Scout Night

The TMB Model Train club remains active in promoting the hobby of model railroading and LIONEL TRAINS. One of our more popular events is Scouts Night. We continue to support the Boy Scouts of America for the values they instill as well as it remains an excellent opportunity to showcase the hobby to the youth of our community.

On Friday evening January27, 2017 we hosted several scout troops with over 100 Boy, Girl and Cub scouts in attendance. In addition to providing the scouts with a field trip, the club members remained responsive to questions about the layout and the trains and the hobby in general.

The scout also got to see what could be accomplished with a little bit of teamwork. One of the requirements for earning the Tiger Cub rank (1st graders) is to learn about teamwork.  Scouts (and parents) learned that it takes all types of different skills and teamwork to run and build a model train layout the size of the TMB layout. Scouts learned that various skills like carpentry, electrical, design, and planning needs to be combined with teamwork to build a layout like what they saw at the TMB Model Train Club.

Several of the scouts commented about grandpa’s trains and plan bring grandpa back for one of the clubs upcoming open house events.
Built by LIONEL, the Sopranos layout continues to be a huge hit with everyone visiting TMB.
